Goa Minister vows “Rave” Crackdown

Government Minister Ravi Naik vowed to launch another crackdown against revelers with a typically blustery threat.

“We will not tolerate rave parties and drugs at all,” the Home Minister declared, “They are already banned in Goa and we will make sure the ban is implemented,” he promised.

Whether the ban will actually be enforced remains unclear since last year a similar ban was overturned within hours after angry local traders lobbied state officials.

Nischith Lalwani, the 23-year-old disc jockey who was arrested in Bangalore on Thursday for possession of over 350 grams of charas, says there is nothing wrong with his business of supplying drugs at trance parties. He wants the government to relax rules pertaining to narcotic substances.
“When people are allowed to smoke cigarettes, what is the harm in consuming charas? Without drugs, trance parties will be dry events. Drugs and trance music go well with each other,” the young DJ told the police, during his interrogation.
He has also confessed to the police that he wanted to personally experience a range of drugs, including magic mushrooms, cocaine, brown sugar, ganja, hashish, and hallucinogens like lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).
Central Crime Bureau (CCB) operatives, in a well-planned operation on Thursday morning, swooped down and nabbed Nischith from his first floor flat on the posh Lalbagh Road in Bangalore.
He was carrying 350 gm of charas, which he had bought from Goa, where he had organised a party at a club near Anjuna beach.
